The College of Computer Science and Informatics at the University of Al-Hamdaniya announces the publication of a scientific paper by one of its faculty members, Assistant Lecturer Firas Abdulrahman Yousif, Head of the Scientific Affairs Unit, in the journal Cybernetics and Physics, a reputable international journal indexed in Scopus.
The paper is titled:
“Enhancing User Experience with Hand Gesture Volume Control: Overcoming Challenges of Camera Distance.”
The study presents the design and development of an intelligent system for controlling audio volume using hand gestures, relying on a computer camera and computer vision techniques, without the need for additional physical devices.
The research focuses on addressing challenges related to variations in the distance between the hand and the camera by adopting an intelligent compensation mechanism. The study employed advanced algorithms and modern techniques in image and video analysis, and its results achieved high accuracy in performance.
This scientific publication represents a qualitative addition to the college’s research output and reflects the commitment of its researchers to advancing scientific knowledge and employing cutting-edge technologies in service of the community.
