Under the patronage of the President of Al-Hamdaniya University, Professor Dr. Nashat Mubarak Sliwa, and the Acting Dean of the College of Computer Science and Informatics, the Women’s Affairs Unit at the College organized a scientific lecture entitled “Combating Violence Against Women and Girls,” in cooperation with the Continuing Education Center and the Community Police Department in Nineveh Governorate. This initiative comes as part of its efforts to raise societal awareness, promote a culture of respect and equality, and reject all forms of violence.
The lecture was delivered by Lieutenant Haneen Bahnam Jajo from the Community Police Department in Nineveh Governorate – Bartella Branch. She addressed the concept of violence and its various forms, as well as its psychological, social, and legal impacts. She also highlighted effective methods to reduce violence and emphasized the role of educational and security institutions in protecting women and girls and fostering a safe environment based on mutual respect.The lecture witnessed active engagement from attendees, who raised several questions and contributions that enriched the discussion.
They stressed the importance of continuing such awareness-raising activities, which contribute to reinforcing human values and building a more aware and cohesive society.
